Guns, Germs, and Steel Test

In class, we finished watching the last ten minutes of "Guns, Germs, and Steel." We discussed possible questions for the test and reviewed the content of the video/notes.

Greek Theater

The types of Greek theater were tragedy and comedy. A tragedy was a serious drama production with themes such as love, hate, war, and/or betrayal. They almost always have a tragic hero with a tragic flaw who would probably die by the end of the play. There were also comedies, plays that had really funny scenes with both slapstick and/or crude humor. These plays would often be offensive towards politics. In middle school I participated in some of my school plays. We did this one comedic play called "Buckshot and Blossoms." It was similar to a Greek production because there was a lot of slapstick humor incorporated in the play.   This image depicts a Greek theater. At least in my school, the seating is different. It is straightforward rather that curving in this picture. It looks like it could hold a plethora of people in this theater and it is outside.

The Laws of Hammurabi's Code

During class, we discussed the Hammurabi's Code, as well as the laws that go with it. One of the most well known law is "An eye for an eye." The laws were literally so violent and so specific? Like, dude, Hammurabi needs to chill. Some examples of this are: If a man BEATS A PREGNANT WOMAN to the point she has a MISCARRIAGE he only has to pay up some money. But if he beats her to DEATH then his daughter dies. If a slave is getting real sassy with his owner, then his ear is chopped off If  a priest woman person goes to a bar then they SET HER ON FIRE If a woman has an affair, then she and the guy will be binded and will be drowned together. Also the original husband guy can save her if he wants  If a guy accuses another guy of something, then they toss the accused into the river so that the river decides. If he's dead, then he was guilty, and if he survived, then he isn't... If a son talks back to his dad, then his hands would be chopped off. Bruh

Plato's Allegory in the Cave

In Plato's allegory in the cave, there were people stuck in a cave. One person breaks free from this cave and steps out into the light. Since they are not used to the light their eyes burn and they go back into the cave and they have to readjust to the darkness. Every step of the way is very painful for this person. After hearing my classmate's discussing it, I believe that it is about change. To me and many other people, change is one of the scariest things in life, and it happens everyday. For example, I have grown up in an Asian household, and most of my family got really pushy about me becoming a doctor, a nurse, a lawyer, or an engineer. However, I wanted to break out of that and become an artist. All my life I have and will always aspire to become a great artist. I want to create my own stories and animate something of my own. It really is what I want to do. When my family found out about this, it was definitely hard to adjust for them because I know that they really want...
