The Laws of Hammurabi's Code

During class, we discussed the Hammurabi's Code, as well as the laws that go with it. One of the most well known law is "An eye for an eye." The laws were literally so violent and so specific? Like, dude, Hammurabi needs to chill. Some examples of this are:

  1. If a man BEATS A PREGNANT WOMAN to the point she has a MISCARRIAGE he only has to pay up some money. But if he beats her to DEATH then his daughter dies.
  2. If a slave is getting real sassy with his owner, then his ear is chopped off
  3. If  a priest woman person goes to a bar then they SET HER ON FIRE
  4. If a woman has an affair, then she and the guy will be binded and will be drowned together. Also the original husband guy can save her if he wants 
  5. If a guy accuses another guy of something, then they toss the accused into the river so that the river decides. If he's dead, then he was guilty, and if he survived, then he isn't...
  6. If a son talks back to his dad, then his hands would be chopped off.

Accountability

During this time of distress, we are all experiencing new things. We are learning to be much more distant from people and are relying on our technology to communicate as well as spend time with other. As students, we are learning to learn more independently. As teachers, you are learning to give meaningful assignments that will impact a student's learning. There are many difficulties as well as temptations that go along with this. On the student side, there are difficulties learning how to teach ourselves and become more responsible with our work. Assignment #1

Paracles was a was a statesman led Athens during its golden age. His goals for Athens was to strengthen its democracy, strengthen the empire, and to glorify Athens.  A direct democracy when the people rule directly and not through representatives. Paracles introduced this by letting the poorer citizens have a say The Delian League was an association of Greek city states that gathered in order to defeat the Persian Empire. They used their immense treasury in order to fund Paracles' goals for Athens. They would invest some of their money in order to strengthen Athens and glorify the city state.

Rome, Rome, Rome, Rome

I honestly probably shouldn't have listened to this while I was sleep deprived with my headphones at full volume. I don't know if this happened because I was laughing or sleep deprived or both, but I started crying. I started freaking crying. It is a masterpiece. This is gonna be stuck in my head for the rest of quarantine. But actually though, it seemed to have a detailed outline of the things we are going to cover in this unit and it tied in some of the things that we have already learned, and I think that it was well-made.
