Maps

During class today, we learned about maps. We observed three different maps and took notes on it. On the United States map, there were different colors for the states to differentiate each state. There were labeled roads, lakes, and rivers. On the Mercator map, each country was a different color. On it, there was a compass and key. The oceans were also labeled. The last map we learned about, was the Peter's Projection map. It is actually the most accurate world map in the sense that it is more proportionally correct, however, people rarely use it. The most common map we use is the Mercator map. The Peter's Projection map shows an accurate representation of the sizes of the continents and countries. For example, Africa is much larger than the United States, but in the Mercator map, they are roughly the same size. In the Peter's Projection map, Africa is more than twice the size of the U.S.

Accountability

During this time of distress, we are all experiencing new things. We are learning to be much more distant from people and are relying on our technology to communicate as well as spend time with other. As students, we are learning to learn more independently. As teachers, you are learning to give meaningful assignments that will impact a student's learning. There are many difficulties as well as temptations that go along with this. On the student side, there are difficulties learning how to teach ourselves and become more responsible with our work. Assignment #1

Paracles was a was a statesman led Athens during its golden age. His goals for Athens was to strengthen its democracy, strengthen the empire, and to glorify Athens.  A direct democracy when the people rule directly and not through representatives. Paracles introduced this by letting the poorer citizens have a say The Delian League was an association of Greek city states that gathered in order to defeat the Persian Empire. They used their immense treasury in order to fund Paracles' goals for Athens. They would invest some of their money in order to strengthen Athens and glorify the city state.

Rome, Rome, Rome, Rome

I honestly probably shouldn't have listened to this while I was sleep deprived with my headphones at full volume. I don't know if this happened because I was laughing or sleep deprived or both, but I started crying. I started freaking crying. It is a masterpiece. This is gonna be stuck in my head for the rest of quarantine. But actually though, it seemed to have a detailed outline of the things we are going to cover in this unit and it tied in some of the things that we have already learned, and I think that it was well-made.
